Projected Number of Admitted Students

Public Administration Major: 75 (Round 1 & Round 2, Daytime course & Evening course)
Public Policy Major: 74 (Round 1 & Round 2, Daytime course & Evening course)

Admission Requirements

① Applicant has or will soon receive a Bachelor’s degree from a Korean or international university
② Or applicant is considered by law to have an educational background equivalent to or higher than a bachelor’s degree
③ Also, applicant must fulfill English Proficiency Test requirements (i.e., minimum score of 551 on TEPS, or minimum score of 79 on TOEFL IBT) Applicants who graduated from universities in which the primary language is English are not required to submit English Proficiency Test scores
④ In addition to the above requirements, applicant must currently hold one of the positions listed below to be eligible to apply for the Evening MPA course:
-level 5 government employee or higher
-field officer or higher within the army, navy, or air force
-executive of a public enterprise, listed corporation, or mass media organization
-full-time instructor or higher in rank at a university (including vocational colleges)
-Special government employee that has received a recommendation from his/her respective department

Admission Documents

① Online Application
② Official undergraduate or graduate transcript(s)
Transfer students must submit official transcripts from schools attended before and after the transfer ③ English Proficiency Test scores (i.e., TEPS or TOEFL scores)
TOEFL: official score report
TEPS: (no score report) indicate date of test on application
TEPS and TOEFL scores are only valid for 2 years after the date of test
Applicants that graduated from universities in which the primary language is English are not required to submit TEPS or TOEFL scores because they will be considered as having received a score of 701 on TEPS. However, applicants still have the option to submit test scores if they wish to do so.
④ Cover letter and Research Proposal (use the template provided by SNU and submit 2 copies each)
⑤ Proof of employment (only applicable to Evening MPA course applicants)
Applicants who have passed the Higher Civil Service Examination but have not yet been appointed must submit a copy of their exam certificate
⑥ Recommendation letter from the chief of department (only applicable to special government employees who have been recommended by their respective departments)
⑦ Official diploma (only applicable to those who graduated from universities in which the primary language is English)
⑧ Speciality (certificate of the exam such as the national exam, professional license, and etc, participation in volunteering) : if can be approved when applicantsd submit relevant documents

Admission Criteria

Round 1 (October)

 

Daytime Course
  • 1st round of selections based on: English Proficiency (minimum 551 on TEPS, or minimum 79 on TOEFL IBT), admission documents, interview, and oral exam
  • 2nd round of selections based on: English Proficiency, course-specific entrance exam (exam based on required course and elective course)
    -this round of selections targets those who did not pass the first step or first round of selections
    -Required Courses: Public Administration Studies (Public Administration major), Public Policy studies (Public Policy major)
    -Elective course (select one): Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Administrative Law, and Mathematics
Evening Course
  • English Proficiency: Minimum 551 on TEPS, or minimum 79 on TOEFL IBT
  • Interview & and oral exam, evaluation of admission documents, English Proficiency

2nd Step 1st round selection candidates: 1st step candidates are evaluated and selected based on their aggregate score on interviews & oral exam, admission documents, and English Proficiency Test
2nd Round of Selections 2nd round selection candidates: 2nd round selection candidates are evaluated and selected based on their aggregate score on the major-specific entrance exam and English Proficiency Test
Evening Course 1st Step 1st step candidates: Twice the projected number of admitted students are evaluated and selected based on their aggregate score on admission documents and English Proficiency Test
2nd Step Selected Candidates: 1st step candidates are evaluated and selected based on their aggregate score on interviews & oral exam, admission documents, and English Proficiency Test

Round 2 (April)

Daytime Course
  • English Proficiency: minimum 551 on TEPS, or minimum 79 on TOEFL IBT
  • Course-specific Entrance Exam (exam on required course): Public Administration studies (Public Administration major), Public Policy studies (Public Policy major)
  • Admission documents, interview & oral exam
Evening Course
  • English Proficiency: minimum 551 on TEPS, or minimum 79 on TOEFL IBT
  • Admission documents, interview & oral exam
