The Graduate School of Public Administration, founded in 1959, is the first professional graduate school in Korea. Since then, GSPA has been committed to empowering students to become experts who successfully apply their knowledge and skills in responding to public issues. It has become one of the top leading educational institutions in Asia through a world-class research and educational infrastructure, networks with developing countries and various practical training programs.
  1. January 1959
    Graduate School of Public Administration is established on a Presidential Decree
  2. March 1961
    First Master’s Degrees of Public Administration delivered to 80 graduates
  3. December 1962
    The first issue of Korean Journal of Public Administration is published
  4. July 1971
    The nation’s first executive non-degree program (ACAD, Advanced Center for Administrative Development) is founded
  5. 1976
    The nation’s first doctorate program in public administration is launched
  6. 1981
    Public policy major is added to the master’s program
  7. 1996
    Building No. 57 construction is completed
  8. 2010
    Building No. 57-1 (as a part of the New Education and Research Complex) construction is completed
  9. 2010
    Master of Public Enterprise Policy degree program and Public Executive Leadership non-degree programs are launched
  10. 2011
    Global Master of Public Administration is founded in cooperation with KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency)
  11. 2014
    Joint MPA program for Korean public officials are added to the GMPA program
  12. 2021
    Rank 11th in social policy & administration academic filed of the QS World University Ranking
